Newlyweds Embark on New Life at Esencia

Home is the starting place for love, hope and dreams…

And, that statement couldn’t be truer for two of our newest Rancho Mission Viejo residents.

Meet Amber and Jon Alexander – best friends, running partners, newlyweds and (much to their excitement) first-time homeowners at Esencia.

Like many people, Amber and Jon dreamed of someday marrying their life partner and starting their new life together in their very own home.

…But, while some might choose to take on one major life milestone at a time, this dynamic duo decided to tackle both – building their first home and planning their wedding simultaneously.

“It’s been a big year for us with a lot of life changes. Moving into our first home was an exciting experience, and Jon and I were thrilled we were doing it together,” explained Amber. “We are both so happy and relieved we were able to find exactly what we were looking for at Esencia!”

An Instant Connection

According to Amber, their love affair with Rancho Mission Viejo began years ago when they first visited friends who had purchased at Sendero, Rancho Mission Viejo’s first village.

“Our friends were just so happy with the homes and the community. So, that prompted us to make the drive to check out Rancho Mission Viejo. We’re so glad we did. Honestly, it’s better than I could have imagined!” said Amber.

When Sendero first opened, the Alexanders walked into a TRI Pointe Homes model, and Amber felt like everything just clicked. The kitchen, the open floor plan, the strong sense of community – all of these factors were starting to shape what Amber wanted in their family’s first home.

While they weren’t ready to buy at the time, Amber knew they would eventually move to Rancho Mission Viejo. After saving for a down payment and exploring their options, the Alexanders were ready to go when Esencia grand opened last fall.

“I was really drawn to how beautiful Esencia is. It’s so new, and the homes are just amazing. As a first-time homeowner, I love being able to customize exactly what I want,” said Amber. “For us, it was about the home design, the active community and a strong sense of belonging that made us fall in love with The Ranch.”

Esencia is Rancho Mission Viejo’s second village offering homebuyers a unique location just miles from the beach and surrounded by thousands of acres of open space. The first phase of the 890-acre village called Esencia encompasses 12 residential neighborhoods and 840 homes ranging from approximately 1,460 to more than 3,760 square feet.

Esencia offers an entire host of amenities for homeowners to take advantage of, but Jon and Amber love that their new home is located especially close to The South Plunge, a brand new amenity featuring a large pool, water play area and outdoor dining patio, as well as the new Esencia K-8 school, part of the acclaimed Capistrano Unified School District.

“When the new school opens, I’ll literally be able to walk my kids to school from where our neighborhood is. It’s going to be so convenient,” explained Amber.

Why Esencia?

“Of course, we did our due diligence. We researched a lot of different options in South Orange County, but we loved Esencia. We looked at homes even closer to the beach, but we knew we were going to have to sacrifice a lot. That would mean an older home, smaller and a lot more expensive!”

When you ask the Alexanders today, they say they feel like they have the best of both worlds. They love the newness of their home, and that they can still pop down for a beach run at Laguna Beach or Dana Point with ease. And, they have a close connection to nature thanks to The Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo.

“We love that Esencia is surrounded by nature. That’s one of the things we’ve really enjoyed since we’ve moved in,” said Amber. “Now, we’ll see wildlife and beautiful, expansive views. With the view we have now, we spend a lot of time up early and drinking coffee on the back patio. It’s all about enjoying the little things…and the silence before we have kids,” chuckled Amber.

They enjoy running in Oak Canyon and hiking the Sendero Loop. They also love how RanchLife programing makes it easy to connect with their community.

“Rancho Mission Viejo does a really good job of planning a lot of events that bring people together and make you feel connected,” explained Amber. “We love being able to meet new people.”

Their New Neighbors

In fact, Amber and Jon moved into the Aria within a month of four other people on their street, and they’ve already become great friends. From block parties to Sunday brunches to group outings at the San Juan Capistrano Swallows Day Parade, these new neighbors have instantly bonded.

“So far we’ve loved getting to know everyone. We talk about everything from decorating our new homes to ideas for backyard design. We’re all going through this process together, which makes it fun.”

For them, the connection to other people at a similar stage of life has been one the best, unexpected pleasures they found moving to Esencia.

“It will be really neat to have our kids grow up together. We’ll all be pretty close to the same age, so we’ll have a little community of kids running around at some point. I really think Esencia is the perfect location to start a family. It’s somewhere you can feel at home, and you just feel very welcomed. It’s nice to feel like you’re a part of something bigger.”
