Downsizing to Upgrade at Heirloom

When Roth and Nikki Ong initially considered moving their family of four from Corona to Orange County, they thought their parameters were fairly broad.

“We knew we would be moving farther from my husband’s job, but a lot of my clients are in Orange County, and I like the schools here,” said Nikki Ong.

What actually happened? The Ongs found the serenity and community at Esencia, and her husband Roth, a purchasing agent, was able to cut his commute in half!

Downsizing to Seriously Upgrade

The Ongs had a beautiful, sprawling home in Corona, but they wanted a view. That is what ultimately drew them to Esencia’s Heirloom neighborhood by CalAtlantic Homes.

“We looked at older homes in other communities. We may have downsized to move here, but when we compared the costs of managing the pool and paying HOA fees on our old home, we get so much more here,” explained Nikki.

More than anything, the Ongs feel Heirloom is perfect for their young family, including 5-year-old Noralynn who is in kindergarten at Las Flores Elementary School, and Reagan who will be 2 in December.

Heirloom offers homes that embody California’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle and rich tradition of architectural style. With floor plans ranging from 2,305 to 3,680 square feet, it was easy for them to find the home that was perfect for their family. With Heirloom, they also got a great location to match!ong-home-2

The Ongs are excited about their close proximity to The Hilltop Club, Esencia’s largest amenity that’s planned to open in Spring 2017. Resort-style amenities including an indoor-outdoor fitness center, game arcade, swimming pool and spa, BBQ pavilion, fire pits and much more will ensure Esencia residents can have tons of fun without ever having to leave the community.

Even beyond the amenities Esencia offers, Nikki says Rancho Mission Viejo has a unique, family environment that’s unlike any other. From meet-and-greet events to holiday parties, there is always something going on and everyone is welcome.

Living High on the Hilltop

The Ong’s home is part of Heirloom’s first phase, and their two-story stunner offers some amazing views.

“These views couldn’t be beat in the entire community, and we love to roll up the shades across the back of our home to take in the panoramic view of the hills,” said Nikki.

Nikki runs her own marketing agency Slick Marketers, and turned the fourth bedroom downstairs into an office. Though she admits that most of her work is done late at night after the children are asleep, she loves the sanctuary the room provides to be creative and effective for her clients.

When she isn’t working, Nikki loves to cook and admits to spending a lot of time in the kitchen. “I love our big farmhouse sink, and the window above it that provides an amazing view of the surrounding area.”

Planting Seeds to Sow

Beyond enjoying their home’s tranquility, the family loves spending time all over Esencia. From letting the kids enjoy the playground and fresh air at Sendero Field, to visiting Esencia Farm and learning about planting and growing different foods, the Ongs do their best to take advantage of all the community has to offer. Nikki is even planning to sign up to farm when the opportunity opens up this month.

“Esencia is above and beyond anything we could have imagined; it’s like a little slice of heaven and includes so many wonderful opportunities and activities for our family,” said Nikki.
